9-11 Memorial Lights

Donation protected
September 11, 2001, is a date that will forever be embedded in the minds of not only New Yorkers and Americans in general, but the tragic events of that day have had a global impact that changed the world forever. The events of that day resulted in 2,977 innocent lives being lost.

Over 400 first responders lost their lives running into what they knew would very likely be the last alarm they would ever answer.

The effects of the events that took place continue to haunt us to this day; from PTSD, to broken families, to the death toll continuing to rise due to 9/11-related illnesses. 226 FDNY firefighters have passed away due to complications stemming from their work on that day and the countless days after. This number will only continue to rise.

We promised that we would "NEVER FORGET". Our government promised and utilized the same phrase: "NEVER FORGET". Well it seems like they have forgotten, or would like for us to forget. But we refuse to.

Beginning on September 11, 2002, and every anniversary since, 2 beams of light have lit the sky over the site where the World Trade Center once stood tall. These beams are known as the "Tribute in Lights" and represent not only those who perished on that terrible day, but they also served as a reminder that we are one and we need to come together to overcome adversity and remain strong for the obstacles that we will inevitably face in the future. The way this year has gone, we could use as much hope as possible.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the members of the National September 11 Memorial and Museum and the city government have decided that it is "too much of a health risk" to allow the Tribute in Lights to shine on this year's anniversary of that tragic day.

We will be doing this on three nights, for five hours each night; 9/09/2020, 9/10/2020, and 9/11/2020. The locations will be posted in the future, but we need all of the help that we can get in donations to ensure that we can make this happen.

Of the fallen, nearly 500 Long Islanders were murdered on September 11th, 2001. Including our fathers who we refuse to let be forgotten. All funds raised are being used to offset the cost of the lights, with the remainder being donated to a 9/11 charity

Respectfully Yours,
