Elli's People to People Europe Trip
Donation protected
Elli is our dear, 17 year old daughter. She is a junior in high school and a top honors student, she is also a writer (currently rolled in Perpich School for the Arts as a literary student), a knitter, a singer, a pennywhistle and banjo player who is very responsible, hard-working and conscientious. She is kind and caring and positive, takes care of her responsibilities in the home and at school with dedication.
She also has a dream to travel! She has been selected to be a People to People Ambassador on the European Heritage trip this summer from June 19 to July 13 (http://www.peopletopeople.com/find-a-trip/all-programs/europe/european-heritage). As part of this program she has been required to complete units of study on the countries she will visit, and has attended preparation meetings since January. She will perform community service both here and in Europe as part of the program as well. The ambassadors must conduct themselves in a manner that will increase good will. We can count on Elli to do this naturally, she is truly a very good kid.
When she tentatively approached us about her dream trip, we told her she needed to earn at least a portion of her travel costs, as such a trip would be quite a strain on the budget for a family of six. She has applied to job after job and not found a fit yet. So she turned to her hobby of knitting, and has raised 400$ by being dedicated to knitting fingerless gloves and leg warmers for months now.
Knitting every spare moment that she is not studying or practicing driving or fulfilling other responsibilities is paying off, but rather slowly. We only have 5 weeks until Elli leaves!
My dear friend suggested I give others the opportunity to pitch in to help Elli achieve her dream of traveling to Europe. So here I am, asking if you are willing and able, please give a little something to help Elli on her way.
We so appreciate you, thanks for reading!! Any amount at all is a precious gift. For those who would like it, I will show my appreciation in henna work, a design for anyone who contributes and beyond that at the reward levels listed.
