Fighting for Finn
Donation protected
This is Finn Loughran…
A 4 year old, who when recently asked by his oncologist ‘Finn do you know what surgery is?’ He answered ‘Yes, an operation…. You won’t be doing an operation on me’
Finns mam Linda, a nurse working in Dublin, brought Finn to the doctor recently with a suspected crick in his neck…. After much back and forth to the GP Linda decided it was more and attended Temple Street… Finns cervical spine was misaligned from his neck and while they thought he may need to go into traction for a number of months it turned out that the collar seemed to be working. Linda, who is also trained in paediatrics, noted that Finns stomach was protruding however Finn was discharged with follow up expected in a number of weeks. Linda spent that same night awake with Finn in excruciating stomach pain and attended Temple Street again the following morning. It was decided that an X-ray and scan needed to be done and the news that came back is what can only be described as hell on earth for any parent.
Finn was diagnosed with a 10cm cancerous tumour on his adrenal gland and stage 4 neuroblastoma, he also has spots on his spine and in his head with tests are currently being done on his bone marrow.
To say this is life altering news would be an understatement… Finns family and friends and anyone that hears this story are naturally devastated…
We have started this GoFundMe to help ease the burden for Finns parents, Conor and Linda. They are now down at least one full income, a serious burden for them in the coming weeks, months and potentially years ahead.
As you can imagine the normal costs of everyday living continue, a mortgage to be paid, two other children at home to be cared for (Gerry and Mae) and on top of this now daily visits to Crumlin, tolls, parking, meals.. things you don’t think about but need to be paid for from a wage that is no longer coming in.
Conor and Linda are very proud people… and parents…. The type of people that when you offer help say ‘we’re graaand, not at all thanks a million’… like we all do… but sometimes circumstances dictate that help is needed. As was said to them both, people want to help… and if minding Gerry or Mae or lifts or meals aren’t possible to do, then donating money is the thing people can contribute to help them.
This GoFundMe is set up to go directly to the family… and any and all donations are greatly appreciated x
Please feel free to share this link across social media channels… thank you so much x
