UPDATE: WE RAISED THE FULL AMOUNT AND ABDOULIE HAS NOW STARTED AT UNIVERSITY

Send Abdoulie to University ! 

I first met Abdoulie in The Gambia when visiting with my school. He was Headboy, extremely intelligent, enthusiastic with a passion for both economics and football. My school fund raised to allow him to visit the UK the first time leaving his village, he stayed with myself and family, some of you may have met him during his stay. This visit broadened his knowledge and inspired him to fulfil his academic potential.

Unfortunately  Abdoulie’s sister who was also
his carer passed away the morning of his final exams, he still sat the exams but was one mark short in one subject for applying for university. This was extremely devastating as Abdoulie had worked through the night every night in his school library so that he could make the grades. He then
had to return to his father’s farm to work for
2years whilst his family raised further funds for education. After 3 long years Abdoulie resat and passed the exams. He was then granted a private funder from the US and applied to the University. Since then the money was withdrawn and therefore so was his potential place at university. How ever now, having encouraged him to keep pursuing his dreams he re applied and has been accepted to study Economics at the University of The Gambia.

It is extremely hard to secure a place. He will be the first person in his family to attend University, it will give him and his family hope for a better future. It is an unmissable opportunity.

The last step to enable Abdoulie to take this place is to raise funds to cover his university fees. Every penny goes a long way, be part of giving Abdoulie the chance to reach his potential and achieve his dreams, help change a life forever
