ABOUT ME:

My name is Domino Martinez, I'm a writer and director based out of California. I created this GOFUNDME to help finish post-production and the completion of my upcoming film Saint Arcadia.

ABOUT THE PROJECT:

Saint Arcadia is a film that follows the story of our hero, Arcadia as volunteers to be a part of a study group. The group is testing a new pharmaceutical drug called Moss. It is meant to treat PTSD.

I started writing Saint Arcadia when I got back from a country filled with poverty and famine. I saw a lot of pain and despair that helped tap into my own grief. The story was originally about a depressed, suicidal girl. After several edits and drafts I finished Saint Arcadia with 105 page script. Since I didn't have 50 million on hand I settled for a short film that would cost less money.

I come from the gritty and raw school of filmmaker Harmony Korine. I have studiously watched screenplay writer Charlie Kaufman and director Sofia Coppola films. I've learned so much from cinematographor Emmanuel Lubezki.

I always knew I wanted to tell my story, I just didn't know how. I watched sad, honest films from a young age and these films helped me to tell stories in an honest way. If I were honest and authentic about my storytelling, I had a shot at a great peice of artwork. I believe that if I make something from the heart that connects with people I have a chance at making a great short film.

WHO WE ARE:

I wrote, directed, and star in the film myself, Domino Martinez. Supporting actress Auriel Jones is an experienced actress and has done work for Chipotle, Sephora, and Doc Martens. Aleksander Jovic is an amazing director, producer, and editor that is now on the film festival circuit with his own full length documentary, Beyond The Peak. Catalina Parra is our iconic director of photography and has worked on music videos, short films, and documentaries. Catalina is a real badass.

WHERE WILL THE FUNDS GO?

The set goal is 6k that will go towards editing, sound, score composer, and film festival fees.
