Danny's Road to Recovery

Hi! My name is Lauren & I set up this page for my dad, Danny.

On July 1st 2023 my dad was on his very first motorcycle ride of the season on a week long trip, he was making his was through Ohio & was at a 4 way stop. It was his turn to go when a woman coming up on his right side decided she did not need to stop & ended up T boning my dad on his bike. My dad saw her coming, he tried to outrun her & aim for the grass but unfortunately he was unable to fully outrun her when she struck him. He ended up in a ditch unable to move & severely injured. By the grace of god there were people around who saw this happen & stopped to help him. My dad was then transported 30 miles away from the crash site to a hospital with a trauma center equipped to handle his extensive injuries. My dads injuries included: a brain bleed, his right side was completely crushed toes to knee, his toes had multiple compound fractures, his ankle bone was exposed & muscle was gone, his foot was shattered, his heel was broken, his shin was also completely exposed & shattered, the PCL ligament behind the knee was tore away so forcefully that it took a part of his knee bone with it. After 2 surgeries & due to his injuries being so extensive & the unknown of future treatments, My dad, his team & his wife made the ultimate decision to move forward with a below the knee amputation. This decision was not made lightly but it was the most successful option for him. My dad will be moved over to a rehab center in Ohio to learn how to navigate this new way of life & his new prosthetic once it has been made.

My dad is such a ray of light & has three other children along with 4 grandchildren, the biggest thing for him has been getting back to his family. From the beginning he has told his team he needs to be able keep up with his kids & grandkids. Even though this ultimately ended in him losing his right lower leg, his prosthethic will be able to get him back to the most mobility so he is able to get back to doing the things he loves most & back home with his family.

All donations will go towards medical expenses, bills, and anything else needed to help my dad & his wife during this road to recovery since he is now unable to work & them being in another state until he is ready & able to come back to Michigan.
