URGENT UPDATE: Cancer Progression and kidney disease at stage 3.
Dear friends, family, and supporters,
I am heartbroken to share that my dear friend Mike is now facing an even greater challenge in his battle with cancer and kidney disease. Unfortunately, he now has high grade carcinoma in his bladder and his kidney disease has been classified as Stage 3 so with only having one kidney this news has been devastating, and the road ahead is more uncertain than ever.
As you can imagine, the medical expenses continue to mount, and Mike & Kelly are in desperate need of additional funds to cover treatment costs, medications, and other necessary care. Every single donation, no matter how big or small, will make an enormous difference in his fight for life.
We are immensely grateful for the outpouring of support we've received so far, but we must continue to rally together to help him through this difficult time.
Please consider donating or sharing this fundraiser with your network. Your kindness and generosity are truly a lifeline for Mike.
With gratitude and hope,
Suzanne Rachal
I met an amazing couple about 10 years ago.......Mike & Kelly Magray. Although we live in separate states, we've stayed in touch throughout all of the years.
Kelly is an amazing wife to her husband Mike, as well as he's an amazing husband to her. The bond they've shared over the years has helped me grow in my own personal relationship. Both have always given me good advice and have helped me in the past when I was down on my luck.
Mike Magray has always been a hard worker and has provided for his family in every way possible. He worked for American Asphalt for 30 plus years & was finally able to retire in 2021. Not only was he a hard worker, but also enjoys hunting, fishing, 4 wheeling, & spending time with family; especially outdoors. Just an all around great guy that would give you the shirt off his back.
In January of this year, Mike was showing all of the signs of passing a kidney stone. They performed surgery & unfortunately, on February 21st Mike was diagnosed with bladder & ureter cancer. He has been on double doses of chemo each week, has had one surgery, & also had to have a Stent put in. Every time they are hopeful for good results something else comes up. One example is that shortly after Mike had his port line put in he ended up with a blood clot. It's beyond overwhelming at this point.
Mike has a scan scheduled next week, July 21st, & we are hopeful they will able to perform the surgery. The only way for Mike to be cleared for this much needed surgery is if his latest scans show improvement. Unfortunatly, the surgery is scheduled out of town & they will not have the results until the day of. Which will either result in being sent home or going through with the surgery. In the event that the surgery takes place, Mike will be taken straight to ICU for the first 3 to 4 days. This leaves Kelly no choice but to get a hotel room until Mike is moved into a private room where she will stay until he is discharged.
This situation that the Magray's are going through really hits home for me. My father also has bladder cancer & has tried everything. So knowing Mike is suffering from the same cancer & fighting the same battle as my father, is making me push to do what I can to help them through this time. I cannot do it alone.
Kelly & Mike are having major financial issues due to all of the money from his pension having to go towards his chemo treatments. Mortgage, utilities, food expenses, & more bills are being thrown by the wayside to try & make sure Mike can get the medication & treatment needed. But the medical & medication bills are also becoming too much along with the hotel stays to see the oncologist & to have the surgery they're hoping to be performed at UW Madison. Kelly has to stay with Mike 24/7, so working is not an option at this time.
I'm asking that anyone that can help this amazing couple through this devastating time please do so with donations & prayers. The last thing they should have to worry about at this time is losing their home, having utilities turned off, or even worse.....not being able to continue fighting the cancer in which is taking over.
I appreciate any & everyone who has taken the time to read this story & please know that every bit helps.
Thank you in advance,
