Support Jodie Through Cancer

Hi, my name is Danielle, and I’m fundraising on behalf of my Mum, Jodie Montagner, whose in need of help.

 

Anyone who knows Mum knows she is always quick to give and has the hugest heart, but is stubborn in asking for help in return. She didn’t jump at this idea, however, the financial costs associated with treatment so far and into the future have accumulated an insurmountable amount and with insurance not covering the treatments required- this is our last resort.

 

In 2003, Mum was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer. She had a left breast mastectomy and a couple of lymph nodes removed and went into remission.

 

In 2018, a fractured hip revealed tumours had returned and she was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in the bones. When she received this diagnosis, she had radiation to the area, then went to Malaysia to receive additional treatments that combined eastern and western techniques.

After 6 weeks of extensive 7 days a week treatment, a scan revealed all cancer had completely gone.

 

Unfortunately, at the end of 2021, it returned again with the other hip fractured from more tumour growth. She was unable to walk and hospitalised.

Heavy painkillers, using a walker, down to 49kg and further targeted radiation she fought to get her strength back to walk and start a new treatment called immunotherapy that cost her another $80,000 over 6 weeks. 

Catching Covid recently set back the effectiveness of the immunotherapy now causing the cancer to spread even further to a lung, skull and cause a fracture in the spine.

 

Mum has friends who have seen amazing results recently receiving treatment in Germany that isn't provided in Australia. 

She has been speaking with the doctors there who have seen her recent scans & advised she is treatable and believe she will see great results with a treatment plan tailored to her specifically.

 

The funds from this page will go towards Mum’s travel to Germany and treatment.

With Mum unable to work for the last 2 years and having used all of her savings & superannuation on treatment, her amazing partner, John, is working full-time to support her plus fund treatment costs and has remained her rock through these challenging times.

 

You can imagine the emotional, physical and mental toll all of this has had. We are hoping the financial toll can be somewhat relieved.
