Since that time, Eric is now on his third hospital admission with a PICC line and daily IV antibiotic administration. The most recent testing has revealed that the bacterial vegetation in his heart valve has now spread to his lung, resulting in a pneumonia. Per the infectious disease doctor, the bacteria should be most susceptible to the antibiotics that he is currently on (rocephin and gentamicin). However, if the bacteria continue to grow, there is a possibility that he will need open heart surgery- but this is a last resort.
Eric, his wife Melanie and their 15-month-old daughter Emily have so many people in their lives who love and care about them and have been looking for a way to lighten their load. After speaking with Eric the other night, some of the most valuable and helpful things we can do are to provide support by visiting and continuing to let them know how much they are in our thoughts and prayers. In addition, I am setting up this gofundme account to provide them with some financial support during this difficult time. As Eric is the primary income earner, I would like to assist them in paying their mortgage and medical bills during this time so that he and his family do not need to be distracted by these stressors, and can focus purely on his recovery process.

Eric, Melanie and Emily- you are incredibly loved and cared for by so many people and this community of people will be here to help you in any way we can along the way. I consider myself blessed to work alongside such a courageous and kind-hearted person and am confident that you will make the strongest of recoveries.
A note from Melanie:
"Even through the difficulties, we (Eric and Melanie) continue to believe that we have a big God who is full of love and kindness and is in control of this situation and healing will come."
