Baby Isla
Donation protected
On December 12th, the day she turned two weeks old, Isla was admitted into Lurie’s Children’s Hospital in Chicago where she will have to stay until she is able to receive a bone marrow transplant.
Isla was born with Severe Combined Immunodeficiency (SCID), a rare genetic disorder that basically means she has no immune system. She was born at 37 weeks, only weighing 4.5 pounds, but she was seemingly happy and healthy and perfect, until her diagnosis was discovered on her newborn screenings.
Her parents, Ashley and Rob, are splitting time between staying with her in the hospital and taking care of Isla’s brother and sister at home. It’s an incredibly difficult time for the whole family and while there isn’t much than can be done until a match is found for her, we can help give them one less thing to worry about.
Thank you so much for your help!!
