Help Bring Nathan Home
Tax deductible
4-year-old Nathan of Guyana, South America, tragically passed away while in treatment in Armenia for Wiskott Aldrich Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder of the immune system.
He is survived by his loving parents and his 7-year-old sister, whose only wish now, is to bring Nathan’s body back to Guyana, to be laid to rest. They do not want to leave him in Armenia where they would never be able to visit him due to distance and financial constraints.
We humbly ask for your support to help bring Nathan home, to have a final resting place where his parents and his sister can visit him.
Nathan’s struggles began in early 2023 when he was hospitalized at the Georgetown Public Hospital in Guyana where doctors suspected he had Acute Myeloid Leukemia; however, they were unable to provide a confirmed diagnosis, due to lack of advanced technologies. In addition, they could not provide treatment in any capacity. As a result, Nathan’s family were advised to seek international medical intervention or Nathan would not survive.
It took SHEA 6 months as they reached out around the globe seeking pro-bono care for Nathan, but no organization or medical facility could accept him, causing further deterioration of his condition. Finally, after numerous appeals, SHEA connected with a US based organization, which was able to coordinate pro-bono and subsidized care in Armenia through its network of resources.
He traveled there in August 2023, accompanied by mother to begin treatment. He received outstanding care and support, but sadly he took a turn for the worse and did not recover.
We will be forever grateful for your support in Nathan’s final journey to his home.
