Help Spice Get Surgery

Spice is our beloved family dog. She is six years old and has been with us ever since she was a puppy. She has always been a feisty and energetic little thing, always looking for attention and affection and love. Spice is family.

Recently Spice started to experience some unusual symptoms. After a heat, she seemed to have developed symptoms of an infection, but rather than get better, those symptoms have only worsened. We no longer suspect just an infection, we are concerned that she may have cancer. Her eyes are red, she has lost a lot of weight, she is always tired and never hungry, and she has a lump on her side. Spice is no longer her energetic and puppy-like self, and we're extremely scared about what this might mean for her.

Unfortunately, we just do not have the money for a vet. I am on disability leave and my mother was just laid off due to COVID-19 closures. There is no extra money to speak of. Even if we could scrape together enough for her to be seen by a vet, most of the local vet clinics are operating under strict rules and a skeleton crew to protect their staff from the virus, which means none of them are available to see us. Our only option is the local animal emergency hospital, which charges twice as much as the regular clinics and does not accept payments from charity funds set up to help with vet bills.

I'm asking from the bottom of my heart that you consider donating to help Spice get looked at. We are raising money for the fee for her to be seen, the costs of any tests they run, and the cost of any treatment they provide (whether that treatment is for cure or comfort). We are looking to raise money as quickly as possible to ensure she gets the help she needs before it's too late to help. Any help would be sincerely appreciated by myself, my family, and Spice.
