Feature Film Project - STRAIN

Donation protected
My name is Austen Tanney (The Flannel Crew) and I am an avid Mountain Biker, Firefighter, and Independant Film Maker. I grew up in Perth, Western Australia racing mountain bikes against 8 time mountain bike world champion Sam Hill, and since the age of 15 I have been capturing, documenting and sharing my mountain bike experiences from all over the globe.

Like any emerging independant film artist, I face the the constraint of raising enough revenue to bring my vision to life. But at the end of the day believe these stories need to be told, and that we are the perfect team to execute this one of a kind project, capturing Canadian Mountain Bike history in the making.

The Flannel Crew have been the pillar of the Mountain Bike community here in Alberta since 2016, amassing millions of views on social media and a global following. But our underlying vision is to make the Alberta Mountain Bike community the best it can be.

Our next project titled STRAIN will be a feature length action sports documentary, showcasing some of the best mountain bike riders in Canada, with a focus on the correlation between mountain biking and mental health.

The narrative will be expressed through a unique approach of dividing the film into the different STRAINs of mountain biking for every type of rider who call the trails home. The title will also be used as a double entendre to not only capture the different strains of mountain bike rider, but the personal strains of adversity they must over come to succeed in their discipline of the sport.

When both amateur and professional mountain bikers face adversity, they must choose to overcome their fears, or be consumed by the sport. Rolling the loaded dice with life changing consequences.

SEGMENT EXAMPLE:

“THE RACER” Documenting the devastating crash and recovery of Garrett Macintosh (The Peoples Champion) at the US Open in Windrock, Tennessee. After suffering a broken neck and career ending injuries, overcomes all odds to qualify for the MTB World Cup in 2024.

After the release of our previous film THE NOMAD which is now streaming on Amazon Video in 18 different countries, it was identified that there is a monumental global audience for the sport of Mountain Biking. Currently we have completed all pre production stages for the film and are due to start shooting STRAIN March 13th in the Garibaldi Ranges. Unfortunately due to budget constraints from unforeseen circumstances (The man trying to keep us down) we are sadly unable to launch production at this time.

Its hard to ask for financial support for this project with the cost of living higher then ever, and genuine people using this platform for significant real world emergencies. But if you have followed our journey from the start, than you will understand why we need to make this film, and the impact it will have on the Alberta Mountain Bike community for generations to come.

If you are unable to support financially but believe in the project and want to assist in other ways, every little bit of support means the world to us, and we cant say thank you enough for the consideration.
