Lisa Cook- An amazing Woman, Mother & Friend
Donation protected
Hi,
I am writing this on behalf of Lisa Cook’s family.
Lisa is a mother to 5 children that she adores, loves and would do anything for. She has been battling cancer for 8 years. She worked part time at Imperial Cars and also worked full time as a paraprofessional at bellingham middle school where she adored the students and enjoyed laughs with her peers.
Lisa was sent to the hospital with stomach pains in November of 2022. After many tests and having no real answers she was discharged and ended up right back in the hospital 2 weeks later. A CT scan showed that she had cancer within her stomach causing a blockage. The doctors tried to find a way in to remove it. She met with her oncologist again and she was back on chemo. She fought to stay on chemo to attack the cancer that was causing the blockage but her pain was unbearable and due to the multiple surgeries previously, another surgery was not available to remove it but they put in a drain to help relieve some of the discomfort. Lisa was taken off chemo on 03/23 and was given a couple months to live. She was sent home to rest. While at home over night Lisa experienced a sharper pain within her stomach and she was brought to Milford where they found a bulge in her stomach, she was transferred to Brigham and Women’s hospital in Boston. Lisa spent 3 weeks in Boston, the bulge was relieved but Lisa’s pain was increasing. She spoke to the doctors in Boston alongside her daughter Rebecca and they decided Lisa would be sent home on hospice. Lisa came home on 04/17 to rest peacefully surrounded by her family, friends and her amazing hospice team.
As of today, Lisa is refusing to lose the battle. She is expressing signs of dementia at times, due to her pain meds. We were advised that due to her increase in pain and lack of other bodily functions, that she doesn’t have much time left.
I wanted to make this GoFundMe page to cover funeral costs, when needed, and also to help Lisa and her daughter Rebecca whom lives with her, to pay for rent and utilities so Lisa can be comfortable within her home as she wished.
Rebecca, who was working full time as a CNA at a local nursing facility, has since been approved for a leave from work to assist in making sure her mom is comfortable during her final days.
