99 Cents For Haiti: Help feed hungry children in Haiti
Donation protected
My name is El-Shaddai Isaac, and I was born and raised in Haiti. Growing up there as a kid was not the perfect childhood, but God allowed me to experience a childhood that was perfect for me. I remain thankful and I wouldn't change a thing about those years. I had a lot of fun with my friends. We ran around the neighborhood playing soccer and basketball everywhere. We played on the rocky streets, on the rocky soccer fields, on the hilltops, on the insides and roofs of abandoned houses. We played anywhere we could find space.
We would swim in the local river and find an open field where we would compete with one another doing acrobatics. We would mimic kung fu characters from television and practice with each other. We hunted in the forest and picked tasty fruits from the trees. The rain didn’t stop us from running all over the neighborhood. We bathed in the rain, chased each other, played soccer and enjoyed ourselves.
Fun was not the only highlight for me in Haiti. I went to one of the most reputable primary schools named College Saint Martial, well known for its academics and social prestige. Despite going to one of the best schools in the country, having a lot of fun with my friends, I also suffered from hunger. There were many days when I went to school hungry. I'd come home from school and there was still no food in the house.
I hated those days. I was angry with God, frustrated with my family and wondered “why me?”. It felt very unfair. I deserved a childhood that was free from suffering.
When I got older, I realized that I was fortunate to have had the childhood I had. Ironically, it was what I needed. Suffering this way, experiencing days of hunger made me a stronger, better man, a more humane and caring man, an advocate for vulnerable children, because I knew hunger firsthand. God had a plan for my life, a bigger purpose for my life. God was cultivating a special heart in me, conditioning me to have a heart that would sympathize and empathize with hungry, disenfranchised people who needed support.
God has propelled me to take action to help in all ways possible. "99 Cents For Haiti" is my new initiative to help hungry, vulnerable, unhoused children in Haiti. I'm asking all who read about this GoFundMe campaign to raise $10,000 to support and share this with family and friends. This is a doable project if we lock arms in a spirit of love and unity. I'm asking all of you for a 99 cents donation and then please share the link. If you are led to donate more than 99 cents, please follow your heart and donate more.
My goal is to create a MOVEMENT to end childhood hunger in my homeland of Haiti. Your donations will help provide food, clothing, and books for needy children.
Thank you in advance for your support of helping Haiti's children. May God bless you all.
