Curvy Girls Scoliosis Convention
Donation protected
My name is Cassandra. I am 14 years old and in 8th grade. I love to play volleyball, dance, and hangout with friends and family.
I was diagnosed with scoliosis when I was 9 years old, and started wearing a brace 20 hours a day soon after that. I have been wearing a brace for 5 years and recently got the news that I get to start the process of stopping wearing the brace.
Over the years of wearing my brace, I have wanted to find other girls with scoliosis that I could talk to about what I was dealing with. A few months ago, my aunt (or Tia, as she likes to be called) introduced me to a website called Curvy Girls (www.curvygirlsscoliosis.com/ ). It is dedicated to connecting girls with scoliosis all over the globe. Soon after getting connected on Curvy Girls, I became the Curvy Girls Leader of Idaho and I am hoping to start a monthly support group soon.
This summer, from June 27-29, 2016, Curvy Girls Support Group is having an International Convention in New York. I would love to go so I could meet a lot of other girls with scoliosis and learn how to become a better Curvy Girls Leader. (www.curvygirlsscoliosis.com/convention2016)
Convention costs:
1. Convention attendance- $400 per person (includes meals, workshops, and fashion show)
2. Airplane tickets- approx. $700 per person
3. Hotel room- approx $420 ($140 per night)
4. Food (not included with convention)- approx $180
Curvy Girls asks that a parent accompany children to the convention, so my mom will be coming with me and her travel/convention costs are included in the total I'm trying to raise.
Please consider supporting me so I can attend this conference. I would truly appreciate any help I can get toward raising funds I need to make this trip.
