Cheryl's Cancer Fight
Donation protected
Hi there! My name is Christa Baumes, Cheryl's daughter-in-law. In December 2018, as we gathered around the table in Dr. Cunningham's consultation room thinking we were going to be told that Cheryl had Cervical Cancer and a hysterectomy would be the cure, we were given overwhelming news- Stage 4 Cervical Cancer with lymph involvement throughout her upper body. The diagnosis was devastating and left us speechless and in tears. From that moment on, Cheryl has vowed to make everyday count and we are there to support her every step of the way.
Her current treatment plan includes six rounds of chemo- one full day every three weeks in which she receives 3 different chemo treatments. Currently, she has finished four of them and has two more to go until then next PET scan to evaluate the response of the chemo.
My mother-in-law is one of the strongest, kindest, generous, loving people I know. She is always the first to offer a hand and send one of her homemade cards for every birthday, holiday or just to brighten a person's day.
Her spirit since her cancer diagnosis has been one of courage, strength and optimism. She has never complained and never asks, why me? She is truly an inspiration.
Prior to the diagnosis, she was working part-time substitute teaching in the Adirondack School District and enjoyed every minute of it. She can no longer do that and not having the supplemental income has put a financial strain on a couple that have always been careful with their money and helped others whenever they could.
I have created this campaign as a way to offset some of the financial burden they are feeling and let them know that their support system is ever bigger than one could imagine. The money will go towards household bills, medical bills and anything they need to maintain the quality of life they so deserve.
On behalf of my husband John, we thank you for your kindness and generosity. Every little will help. Most importantly, we ask that you keep my mother and father-in-law in your thoughts and prayers.
With love,
Christa
