Christopher's Medical Emergency Fund

My name is Peng Guan. I am Christopher's next-door neighbor and friend. I am a cancer researcher at the University of Pennsylvania and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. His disease is a very rare and deadly cancer that is uncurable. He is fighting for his life, and that battle is not going well. He desperately needs help to cover some prescription medications not covered by insurance, daily life expenses and his mortgage. He has not been able to work full-time the 14 months
Christopher J. Gervais is an award-winning wildlife documentary filmmaker, a wildlife conservationist, and an environmental and marine scientist. He is the founder and CEO of the Wildlife Conservation Film Festival (WCFF), whose mission is to inform, engage and inspire wildlife conservation through the power of film and media. He’s also working to establish the Wildlife Conservation Film Foundation.
For nearly thirteen years, Christopher has been running the WCFF, which is recognized as the most important event of its kind for the protection of biodiversity. Throughout the thirteen years of running the WCFF, Christopher has never taken a salary. It’s been his life’s mission to raise awareness of the plight of our world’s last remaining wild places. But now, Christopher is fighting for his life.
Christopher has Stage Four cancer that started in his liver and has now spread throughout his body. The cancerous tumors are inoperable and his condition is grave.
In a final desperate bid to save his life, Christopher has started a new and highly aggressive experimental chemotherapy treatment that has several debilitating side effects. This includes neuropathy, nausea, severe dehydration, blood clots, weakness, and a drop in white blood cell counts--all of which puts him at a high risk of contracting life-threatening infections.
Every two weeks, Christopher endures three days of experimental chemotherapy at a nearby hospital. On the days he’s not receiving chemotherapy, he’s treated for dehydration, which is a major side effect of the experimental chemotherapy treatment.
As you can imagine, this has been extremely difficult for Christopher and his family. Christopher has not been able to work full-time for nearly seventeen months. Each day he gets ever closer to depleting his entire life savings to keep up with mortgage payments, utilities, food and fuel. He’s the sole income provider for his family, which includes his elderly parents, who struggle with their own health issues.
Christopher needs this Go Fund Me campaign to be successful so he can pay for his medicine and daily life expenses and save his family’s home from imminent foreclosure. The Gervais family is desperately hoping to reach their goal of $50,000.
Any donation you can spare is very helpful and greatly appreciated. Christopher and his family sincerely thank you for your time, compassion, and support.
