ELVIS LIVES!!!

Elvis lives! And he needs your help. My Friend, Elvis Thoya, (young man in white shirt, lower right of picture) has had quite a different life than that of the musical legend he was named after, though he is no less of a King! And like all of us Kenyans, he can dance up a storm, let me tell ya. Elvis was born in the Malindi village of Sogorosa, on the Swahili coast of Kenya, and is a member of the Giriama Tribe. He is an amazing, multi-talented, multi-lingual man who is dedicated to his family and his village, and deeply committed to helping the less fortunate and vulnerable members of his community.
Life has not been so kind to Elvis in the last few years. The arrival of covid severely impacted the tourist industry in Kenya, and Elvis was quickly out of a job as a chef in the Ramada Hotel. Coming from a family of subsistence farmers, the recent loss of both his mother and father, along with the drying up of work, left Elvis with the task of taking care of his surviving relatives and tending the small family field of corn. When Elvis saw how many families in his community, like his own, were suffering the loss of parents, he worked hard to create a grassroots orphanage in an effort to help support these unfortunate children.
This orphanage is not state sponsored, and has no external source of funding or support. Your support will help Elvis build a new school for the orphans, provide food for them to eat, clean bedding, and a playground.
I believe that with all of your help we can help Elvis improve the lives of his fellow villagers. Thank you in advance, for any amount you can contribute. Even the smallest contribution will go a long way towards Elvis achieving his goal!
