The Phillips Family
Donation protected
This fundraiser is intended to help a great friend of ours, James Phillips, and his wonderful family during their time of need. As most of you know, James has had a rough few years which included the amputation of his leg and sickness that never went away. During his time sick, he lost his dream newspaper publishing job. Despite the sickenes, James went on to found the Community Journal (an online news publication that focuses on local news) during this time. The journal is thre Phillips families primary income. Despite the success, James can not do very much journalism from UAB hospital. James is a father, a husband, and a fighter who will not quit. James has inspired many of us with his will to live as well as his selflessness and love for others. He has kept the CJ going despite being the only employee. James has been in the hospital for two-weeks since suffering from a heart attack. He had 100% blockage in one artery in which they added multiple stents. Since then, he has been faced with more issues. On January 7th, James had a seizure and his heart stopped. His heart stopped and was restarted 17 times in a period of 8 days. After trying multiple tactics (including more stents) and medications, the team at Princeton Baptist installed a defibrillator/pacemaker. James has improved gradually in the last two days and was moved to UAB for further evalutions this morning. There are still a lot questions as the what caused the initial heart issues and where to go from here. We are hopeful the team at UAB Hospitial can find the root of the issue and get him home to his family. We ask that if you are able to help James, Andrea, and their family, please do so, while keeping them in your thoughts and prayers. This family has been faced with many ongoing hardships but we know they will come through this as well.
