Study Abroad at University of Cambridge

I am a first in my family to have the opportunity to enter and graduate college. One of my greatest hopes throughout my undergraduate journey was to study abroad for a semester. However, my journey of eight years did not provide me an opportunity for this because I worked in order to pay for college. Missing a whole semester of work was not doable. Even when I transferred to Mills the possibility of studying abroad was not open for discussion. I remember going to speak to my then advisor during orientation and letting him know of all the expectations that I had for myself. I wanted to study abroad, major in International Relations and minor in Ethnic Studies, and maybe even start my classes towards a master program. Only to find out from this person that I had just met that because I had been given three semesters to complete my degree It would only be possible to complete my major nothing more. Feeling more confused and defeated than ever, I went to the Ethnic Studies department where I found better support. Yet the possiblity of studying abroad was nonexistant. I have not given up on this hope and I found a program in the International Summer School at the University of Cambridge. I will be taking three classes- education in Britain from 1870-present, History of Archeology The Ancient Aztec's and Maya, and Crises and International Relations since 1945- for two weeks from August 3 to August 16. The total fees for the program is around $3500 dollars, not including the flight. I have been able to save money from my own employment and from funds that I received from family for graduation. However, I still need to help getting to my goal. Any comdtribution to help on this new mission will be greatly appreciated.
