Our IVF Journey

Hi there! As a lot of you already know, my husband Chris and I started our journey to have children between 5-6 years ago. A brief backstory on us – we started dating November 15, 2012. We then got engaged February 20, 2015 and then married on September 19, 2015. I started having some changes with my body that lead me to start searching for answers, where I ultimately found out that I have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). This diagnosis explained my (then) recent weight gain and sudden mood swings. After 1-2 years of being married when we decided to start trying to have a baby, we then realized my PCOS was causing me to have fertility issues. After about a year of trying on our own, we started to see more doctors to get more answers. For about 8 months we tried medications to help me ovulate, and I was pretty open on social media about our progress and our setbacks. After 8 months of no success, I decided to keep private about our journey from that point forward.
We have since then done the same medications with no success, and IUI with no success. Chris and I (along with our doctors) have decided our best chance at success is IVF. As you may or may not know, IVF is very expensive. My insurance does not cover any fertility benefits, so all that we have done thus far has been paid out of pocket, costing us thousands already. We have been quoted $22-$23 thousand dollars for us to move forward with IVF, and that’s if everything goes according to plan. The cost of injections and medications goes up significantly all the time, so those could increase. If any of my numbers are off along the way, we must cancel and restart my protocol, meaning additional costs. We are fully prepared to put money that we have towards IVF and finance the rest, but someone suggested to us to start a GoFundMe just to see. So, here we are. We are certainly appreciative of the already existing prayers we receive about our fertility journey. Any monetary contribution, prayer, and share helps significantly, and we truly couldn’t be more thankful. We are excited to start this IVF journey and can’t wait to take you along with us.
