Supporting for Bonnie’s Journey

Dear Family and Friends,

We have set up this funding page in support of our closest friends whose 7 year old daughter was diagnosed with an osteosarcoma (aggressive bone cancer) in her leg just before Christmas 2023.

Bonnie swiftly embarked on her journey with Chemotherapy in Bristol which is the nearest specialist centre to them in Cornwall and is likely to continue throughout 2024 with limb salvage surgery planned soon to attempt to save her leg.

Bonnie’s surgery will be to remove the tumour and fit a prosthetic implant into her femur to hopefully avoid amputation. Her long rehabilitation journey following surgery where she will need to learn how to walk again will be gruelling alongside her chemo routine. Adaptions will need to be made to their family home to support Bonnie during her rehabilitation that are not all funded.

Our aim is to rally support for Bonnie and her devoted mum and dad. Bonnies mum has put her life and career on hold to support and accompany precious Bonnie through her chemo sessions and provide care. With this fundraising effort, we hope to lessen the worry of money and financial strain associated with household bills, travel costs between home to hospital, grocery bills and mortgage payments allowing them to focus solely on Bonnie’s recovery.

Bonnie is a remarkable, spirited young girl, known for her bravery, beauty and love for life. Whether she is spending time with her friends at Probus Primary School, skiing, or enjoying the beach, her joy and smile are infectious. Our hearts were broken to hear of her diagnosis and their challenging journey ahead.

We extend our heart felt gratitude to the Paediatric team at The Royal Cornwall Hospital and Bristol Children’s Hospital for your prompt diagnosis and treatment as well as your kind and compassionate care. Also to the Little Princess Trust for making Bonnie the perfect wig so quickly when she lost her hair.
