Please help me clear my debts, I’m desperate.

I’m 70, lonely and a pensioner living alone in a semi-rural area. I have some historic credit card debts and I can no longer cope. I’m getting to the stage where I’m having to choose between heating and eating. 20 years ago I was made redundant from a very good career and, because I’m gay and discrimination was still legal then, I was forced into a job at half my previous income. I kept applying for IT jobs but despite getting interviews and sometimes even verbal offers they always suddenly withdrew the offer at the last minute and until it became illegal some would actually say “we don’t employ your sort”. Having a mortgage to pay I had to take whatever job I could and ended up a bus driver. For 20 years I’ve juggled my precarious finances and just about managed to keep my head above water. And now I’m sinking, I need to get my credit cards cleared. I ran out of savings and things to sell a long time ago. I gave up holidays 20 years ago and now I rarely leave the house. Having been the victim of hate crime I’m always a little anxious to leave the house and I no longer have a car as I couldn’t afford to run it any more. I’m too ashamed to have to admit to family, friends and acquaintances how bad things really are. I was reluctant to put this up because I thought nobody would contribute but I guess I wanted to be sure I’d covered all options as there’s virtually no support for people like me in my area. I didn’t originally put the total debt as target, so the target I started with was a very small fraction. I’ve now changed that to be what I’ve roughly calculated is the actual debt. In an ideal world those who are responsible for putting me in this position should pay reparations for what they did.
