Get Charles back up and running.

Hi, my name is Ian. I am fundraising on behalf of Charles Essex. Friends and family can only do so much – we need help. Charles and I were on a motorcycle trip years in the making. On July 4th, Charles was hit head-on by pickup truck.
He was life-flighted to the University of Tennessee Medical Center. He has a cracked vertebrae, a shattered femur, multiple breaks in his tibia, and has lost almost all feeling and function in his left arm.
While the truck driver was arrested for DUI, he didn't have a license or car insurance. Unfortunately, Charles doesn't have any health insurance either.
We are back home now and the reality of this is starting to set in. He needs physical therapy for his legs and specialist work to have the best, and maybe the only chance to regain the functionality of his left arm. Beyond the medical expenses, his home and his son both need financial help during his recovery.
Charles is well-known in Columbus for his work in the bike community and for running his pedicab at local events. He is also a familiar face at Vintage Days, working with the Wall of Death and for winning the Captians' hat at the burnout in 2021.
Charles is lucky – by all rights, he should be dead.
The care he receives now will directly affect the quality of life he has in the future.
Here are some pictures from our trip preaccident.
While fixing my flat tire we were greeted by a stray dog.
Found a rock.
Our campsite for the second night. We set up our tents under the arch.
If anyone is interested, here is a picture of the truck.
