Barbara Walters Ovarian Cancer Fundraiser

Donation protected
❤Hello neighbors, friends, and family❤
Barbara Walters was just diagnosed with stage 3 (aggressive) Ovarian Cancer on January 13, 2023.
She started to receive chemotherapy treatment at Northwestern Medicine on Feb. 6th, 2023 and is due to have surgery after completing chemotherapy.
I am her daughter's sister-in-law, Bhavani, and decided to create a GoFundMe for her after she was diagnosed.
  • Barbara began to have pain in her abdomen, which led her to the Emergency room. After various tests and a CT scan, doctors soon informed her that she had Stage III (aggressive) Ovarian Cancer.
The abrupt nature of her diagnosis and treatment has left her in a very financially sensitive and even more emotionally devastating situation. She informed her employers (2 separate jobs), that she would need to take leave immediately and unfortunately this will have to be unpaid leave.
As many of you know, when someone in your immediate family is diagnosed with cancer, this can be a very stressful and difficult time. The surreal moment when a doctor informs you of a cancer diagnosis, and various treatments (if any), is so monumentally profound and changes you forever. Once you hear the word ‘cancer’, your physical health and mental health become very important. A cancer diagnosis forever changes you from that moment and you then have to focus on yourself to make the overall treatment successful. Cancer patients can attest that the process of treatment, from diagnosis to finishing treatment, can have a significant amount of highs and lows both mentally and physically and be very stressful.
The medical treatments can be so overwhelming and to have a little relief with finances help with focusing fully on treatment. We hope that any donations raised will help for the long journey ahead.
  • As part of Barbara's support system, she has 2 daughters (Sarah and Elizabeth), a son-in-law (James II), and 1 grandchild (James III). She has always prided herself on working and when she isn't working, she picks up her grandson, James her 'little man'., at Harvey Elementary in Kenosha, WI.
We are doing everything we can to support her through this difficult pivotal moment in her life and appreciate any help in advance.
