A little help.

I don't have a lot of photos of myself, this is the year end card we sent out. Hi, my name is Jed Sullivan and I'm not very good at this or comfortable with it, but ultimately this isn't about me. In the past couple months, I've lost my home, lost my job, and developed an as yet unresolved health problem. Most importantly, without a home, I've lost the ability to regularly see my child, which is killing me. I worked in an Amazon warehouse, I don't have a college degree, and I could use a little help to towards creating a stable place where I can see my nine year old, where our kitten can live, and with figuring out what's behind a health problem I'm struggling with. I'm hoping to raise $2700- $1800 towards an RV trailer to live in, $500 for a month of COBRA coverage, and $400 for a month of storage. It's been a rough couple of months:

Second week in May:
We finally get the kitten my nine year old has been wanting for the better part of a year. (This isn't a bad thing, the kitten's name is Panther. They're cute, mischivious, and even love playing fetch.)

Third week in May:
I start having trouble breathing. Trivial things like taking in the groceries leave me out of breath and laying down feels like I'm suffocating.

Fouth week in May:
I get a certified letter from my landperson saying that they intend to sell the place I'm renting and that I have 35 days to vacate the premise.

Second week in June:
Chest x-rays reveal a partial collapse of my right lung (atelectasis). The cause is unknown.

Third week in June:
I finally am able to get on an official leave of absence at work, although only through 7/11. We try an antibiotic in case the atelectasis is caused by pnemonia, despite there being no signs of infection. It has no affect. I continue looking for a place to live, but the Bay Area is expensive and while I don't have bad credit, I don't have ANY credit which has always made it difficult to find places to rent.

Fourth week in June:
I move everything out of the apartment in into storage. Everyone I know is on vacation, so I do the move entirely myself using my hatchback. It's exhausting, especially with the atelectasis.

First week in July:
We continue trying to find the cause of the atelectasis. Heart problems seem unlikely which is a huge relief. I continue looking for places, but start to look into alternatives. I stay in a hotel that allows pets.

Second week in July:
Continue getting lab work done to figure out the atelectasis. The most likely causes are looking like either exposure to high silica wood 10-15 years ago (I was a woodworker) or from the general anestesia from an operation on a work injury in February.

Third week in July:
There's a disconnect between Kaiser and my workplace and my leave of absence is denied. My doctor confirms I'm unable to work, but without the correct paperwork (which I had submitted), I am terminated from my job.

Fourth week in July:
More lab work re the atelectasis. I'm trying to get as much done before I lose health coverage at the end of the month. I also continue trying to fight the termination, but whereas my employer has always been helpful in the past, it's like a giant brick wall has gone with the termination. I'm unable to find shelters that will also accept a kitten and start sleeping in my car, which is less than ideal vis a vis the poor cat and seeing my child.

My plan:
By cashing out one of my old 401K accounts, I have _almost_ enough in savings to purchase this RV trailer: https://sonomarv.com/inventory/view/17454348/2024-Sunray-149-Classic. It's not a lot of space, but it has a place to cook, a place to shower, places to sleep, and a bathroom. I'd cordone off the queen bed for Max with a pocket door so they have a space of their own. I have a couple of options for places I can park it as well a 3kvh solar power kit to power it. This by itself would give me a place to see my child and a stable month in which to tackle figuring out the atelectasis and job options (Ideally, I'd like to go back to my old job of it's possile).

I don't have a lot I can give back, but I will send anyone who donates a custom cartoon drawing if they want it
