Hey, everybody! My name is Shane, and I am a FTM student. I have known since I was eight, but due to various circumstances, I was unable to begin my medical transition until recently. My insurance does not provide assistance paying for trans related surgeries, and I need quite a bit of help to reach my financial goal.
Time to take action
I am looking at Dr. Matthew G. Stanwix, MD FACS in Henrico, Virginia, and my goal is to have the chest I've always wanted by this summer. I am taking a semester off from school and working full time in order to make this all happen. I have waited as long as I can. Now, it's time to get serious and make some dramatic changes.
Why do I need your help?
My dysphoria gets worse as time goes on, and I am in intense pain due to the size of my chest. I have difficulty breathing, exercising, and sleeping. I miss the little things, too. Hugging the people I care about and wearing clothes I like just don't happen anymore. I do not want to focus on this the rest of my life. I would like to have my surgery and move on so I can experience what it is like to simply be a normal college student.
What will this money go towards?
The surgery itself. The cost ranges between $7,750 and $8,750 (according to Dr. Stanwix website. I have been saving up, and I have enough for the consultation, transportation, housing, the anesthesiologist fee, and after-care (such as dressings and medication).
Thank you in advance!
Every little bit helps. If you cannot donate, please share. The more people know about this, the greater my chances are. I cannot rely on my parents for support, so I would appreaciate the help of a few (or very, very many) kind strangers. Thank you for reading, sharing, and donating!
