Roxy's Surgery
Donation protected
Roxy is one of three dogs that have come into our lives unexpectedly and turned our worlds upside down, inside out, any way imaginable. At first, we were actually just taking care of them while their owners fought through their hardships. In the end, they never came back for them and to be honest, we were kind of happy they didn't. We fell in love with these dogs and I'm pretty sure they fell in love with us, too.
When they first came to our house, they were scared and insecure because they did not understand what was going on.
Roxy was the most insecure and we had the hardest time earning her trust. We could not get her out of her kennel and every time we tried, she would try to attack us because she was so scared and didn't know where her family was.
It took time for her to trust that we were only there to help her, not harm her. Over time, she warmed up to us and so did the other two dogs. They all love to be cuddled and get along with each other fairly well.
Roxy is the most active, which is why the sudden change in her behavior recently was shocking to us. She started to walk slowly when we called for her and sometimes didn't even get up, but would just look at us. She went from running around jumping like crazy to not even wanting to walk. A few days ago, she started to refuse to eat, and she never refuses a treat. I even tried feeding her table food, just to get her to eat something, but still, she would just sniff it and turn her head. She still drank water and peed whenever she needed to, but she was not her normal self.
We took her to the doctor where we found that she had an infection in her uterus which was causing her to feel unwell. This particular infection is called pyometra, which we were lucky to have found early because if left untreated, the infection would turn into a life-threatening one. To treat Roxy, she must undergo surgery to remove her infected uterus and the surgery was estimated to be near $3500 which is waaaaayyyy more than we can afford, but we need to help her regardless whether or not we can raise that much money. If we can't, I'll deal with that later. This is where GoFundMe comes in.
We made this account to reach out to all of you and ask for your help in any way. Every little bit counts and we really appreciate you guys just taking the time to read about what is going on and how you guys can help us help Roxy get better. THANK YOU so much in advance for all the love and support.
