Carolina BFF Nonprofit Startup Fund

We are Carolina Best Foot Forward, a group dedicated to raising money for kids in the Triangle area who are lower limb amputees. Most of the time, insurance only provides one basic walking leg for kids. These legs do not allow for other activities such as swimming, running, or other high intensity activities. This is the type of prothesthetic limb that we are raising money for. As kids grow, they require new prostheses to fit their changing height and body type. At age 5, if a kid wants to run with their friends on the soccer team, a special, more expensive type of foot is required. At age 9, they will not be able to utilize this same foot, as they will outgrow their socket and weight category for the foot. 

In order to raise money for this cause, Carolina BFF is seeking to be designated as a 501c3 non-profit corporation. We have already been recognized as a student organization by the University of North Carolina, which is a big step. We have around 40 members and a board of officers of 10. There are several fees associated with this upcoming process. Specifically an $800 processing fee by the IRS and Secretary of State. In order to raise money for these awesome kids, we need to get over this hurdle. Please consider donating to help us get our feet of the ground and be government-recognized as a nonprofit.
