Hi Everyone,

Ryan graduated and got state certified as an EMT. He was ready to celebrate with his brother and friends
on a cruise but on April 14th that all changed. What Ryan and his family thought was the flu or some kind of bug turned out to be a nightmare. His parents took him to NW Medical’s ER hoping to get antibiotics and go home only to find that this bug was a bacterial infection and this infection was eating away at his aortic heart valve. After 9 days of antibiotics at NW he was transported to Memorial Regional where he continued treatment and on April 26th he had open heart surgery to repair his aortic valve. He was then sent home with home health care and after one week found himself with infection again and hospitalized. Bacteria now has eaten away at his aortic valve again. After days of antibiotics and fighting fevers he had open heart surgery on May 20th this time to replace his valve and cut out any bacteria found. Ryan is in CVICU at Memorial Regional and having a difficult time. He has not worked since being sick and will not be able to work for 3-6 months after he is released. We are collecting funds to help with medical expenses and to help Ryan finish his dream of becoming a paramedic and fire fighter. Any donation and prayers would be greatly appreciated.
