House fire
Donation protected
Although our holiday was full of love and light, the following days whistled a different tune. Still amidst the Christmas haze, on December 28th my brother and his family experienced a devastating house fire. Thankfully, everyone is safe, pets included. As a family, we first want to thank the Carlton Fire Department, Wrenshall Fire Department, Carlton County Sheriff’s Office, and the Esko Fire Department for their prompt response, salvaging what they could of the house, and for the rescue of their cat, Barney. The safety of Cory, Heather, and their 4 kids is what we are so grateful for. But, as one can only imagine, they watched their house engulfed in flames and left that day with just the clothes on their back. Although most of the house is structurally standing, most of its contents are a complete loss or severely smoke damaged. The fire burned from the bottom up, so the damage is extensive. It will be a long road ahead and has yet to be determined if they will be able to live in their home again.
As they take the time to rebuild their lives and (hopefully) home, we are assisting them however we can by collecting meals, clothing, and monetary donations- all towards their immediate needs, bills, and restoration of their home.
I continue to watch the community, our family, friends, and complete strangers come together and show up for each other in times of need and it is astounding and commendable. The outpouring of generosity and thoughtfulness sent their way by the American Red Cross, family, and friends is greatly appreciated. Any little thing you can do to support this family, who so humbly help others at the drop of a hat, would be appreciated more than you know. Even a thoughtful message or prayer sent their way is appreciated during this time.
This wonderful family and these great kids (who haven’t asked for one thing) just celebrated Christmas and a couple of days later, so much was taken from them. I would love to help them start their New Year with support, hope, and a little bit of extra cheer. Any donations of home items/necessities/appliances/furniture/video game consoles/games would be greatly appreciated and pick up/drop off can be arranged.
A meal train link is provided below and is set up throughout January, where a day can be chosen to send the family a meal, gift card, or other resource to assist in taking away the stress of feeding their family.
