Mia Miller
Donation protected
Three weeks ago Mia went in for a checkup on her back from a volleyball injury. They did a MRI, and accidentally caught a glimpse of a baseball size tumor in her pancreas. She had a biopsy Friday, January 4th at Dallas Children’s. The EUS with biopsy went well other than having some difficulty getting the scope around and through due to the tumor. Mia’s body has grown to adapt to it as her pancreatic duct and bile ducts stretch around it. She was in the hands of a nationally recognized GI surgeon who performs this procedure on neonates.
The pathologist with the GI surgeon agreed that it was one of the largest they had seen besides one other. God knew what he was doing when he made her have that nagging back pain! They feel that it is not malignant but we are waiting on the biopsies to come back before we know for sure. Meanwhile, surgery is scheduled for Tuesday, January 8th. The Surgery, the Whipple procedure, is a major surgery that involves the lower intestines, head of the pancreas, stomach, bile duct and gallbladder. The family has met the surgeon, Dr. Diesen, four times now and she is amazing. She has blocked Tuesday, 01/08/18, off for Mia and she’s put up with our never ending questions and genuinely cares for our girl.
**All the information we are sharing is from the family, and with permission.**
All donations will go directly to Mia and her family. All donations are greatly appreciated! Please keep Mia and her family in your daily prayers!!! We love you Mia Miller!! ❤️
