Donation protected
Robin was recently diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), a chronic pain condition characterized by intense and disproportionate pain, typically affecting one limb but sometimes spreading to other parts of the body. It often develops after an injury or trauma, although the severity of pain experienced is out of proportion to the initial injury. The condition can significantly impair mobility and quality of life. Treatment usually involves a multidisciplinary approach combining medication, physical therapy, and sometimes interventions like nerve blocks or spinal cord stimulation. Early diagnosis and intervention are crucial for managing symptoms and preventing long-term disability.
Robin’s condition stems from injuries to his feet and surrounding tendons that happened around New Years. It’s been a long 6 month journey to diagnosis but he’s finally on the appropriate medications and is working with doctors to figure out the best cadence for nerve blocking shots and other treatments.
I’m sure many of you saw Robin struggling to figure out how to manage his pain and get a diagnosis. Doctors are not always well versed in CRPS so they were shuffling him around. He spent 6 months trying to work through his pain while seeing a series of specialists. He had about 40 different medical appointments and 4 hospital visits in this time.
Early intervention is key to preventing long term disability, it’s very important for Robin to have a few months to receive treatments and focus on getting better and receiving treatments - not working through the pain which could cause permanent disablement. Robin does not have a source of income for the next 3 months, he does not qualify for unemployment as he was working as a contractor. His goal is to get as healthy as possible so that he can return to living a life as normal as possible and successfully get back to work.
Robin has always gone above and beyond to help friends in need. He’s opened up his space and gone above and beyond to be a good host - it was always about making everyone around him happy and comfortable. Now he needs some help from the community to get back on his feet.
