Support for Medical Expenses

My name is Rachel and my sweet friends, Brooke and Justin, have gone through a long and hard journey and need support for Justin's medical expenses. I have gotten permission from both of them to create a go fund me page for them.

Justin has had two years of extensive health issues that were exacerbated by Covid. While trying to figure out what was causing Justin's health issues, there have been extensive costs due to having to go to Duke and UVA for treatment multiple times and many medical bills. Justin was diagnosed with a tick-borne illness that required extensive follow-up with a functional medicine physician. Justin's treatment plan included expensive supplement support and a strict diet that required expensive food options to help him heal. His other illnesses include significant headaches from the tickborne illness on top of chronic migraines that caused significant pain. It resulted in Justin having non-epileptic seizures. All of the health conditions, have prevented Justin from going back to the work he loves. Justin tried to pick up other jobs, but he has not been able to maintain them due to the treatment regimen not completely working each time

Justin is now on the right regimen after two years of trying different medications. Justin is receiving Botox Therapy for his migraines on top of other medications that have finally helped and it has minimized his pain considerably. Unfortunately, the cost of botox shots can be 1,000 dollars even with health insurance. All of the health conditions, have prevented Justin from going back to the work he loves. Justin tried to pick up other jobs, but he has not been able to maintain them due to the treatment regimen not completely working each time. Justin needs to continue getting the botox shots because they've been the first thing that has been consistently effective.

Please consider donating any amount towards medical expenses so that Justin can continue getting the care he needs to get better. It would be a huge support and relief for Brooke and Justin so that they can catch up on covering past medical expenses and to continue the right treatment for his health conditions.

Funds will be used for medical expenses, prescriptions, travel to specialist appointments at Duke, and travel to other appointments.

If the fundraiser goal is exceeded, any additional amounts will be distributed to Justin and Brooke.
