Jackie's Journey

On May 27th, Jackie O was in a horrible ATV accident while enjoying a long awaited camping trip with family and friends. Jackie was driving four others when an unexpected bump caused her to lose control, flipping the ATV. Unfortunately, the ATV landed and pinned her left leg and arm. Luckily, her close friends Henry Paneda and Mike Lerma were in a vehicle behind her and quickly lifted the ATV off of her. Mike then heroically became Jackie's doctor by using his clothing to stop the bleeding of her limbs as they waited 30 minutes for paramedics to arrive. Anyone who visits Jackie will hear her say, "Mike is my hero, he saved my life."
Jackie was rushed to the trauma center at Antelope Valley Hospital and immediately taken into surgery. Despite the surgeon's best efforts, they were unable to save her left arm. She is now stable and her doctors are addressing her left leg. In the upcoming weeks she will need to have multiple surgeries on her left leg to regain function and mobility. She has been surrounded by the company of her family, close friends, and parents always by her bedside. For those of you who know Jackie, know that this will not stop her from telling nurses what is on her mind, joking with friends, and making the most out of every moment. Jackie's willingness to always help others and be there for everybody when they need someone to lean on is evident through the abundance of love and support she is receiving. Her road to recovery will be filled with lots of tears and adversity, along with medical bills. She has expressed interest in a "beautiful" prosthetic arm that her family and friends have promised her. Help us making #JackiesJourney one filled with lots of love and support ❤️
