Adama Sanogo's Family Home
Donation protected
On April 15, 2022, the family home of Adama Sanogo in Bamako, Mali unexpectedly collapsed as a result of severe thunderstorms. His mother, father, sister and two cousins are currently living in temporary housing as a result of the home being uninhabitable. The goal is to raise funding to repair the home, estimated to be $35,300 USD.
Adama is currently enrolled at the University of Connecticut, where he is a Junior on the men’s basketball team. He came to the United States in 2017, leaving his family behind to pursue his dream of playing college basketball, earning a college degree and ultimately, playing professional basketball. The tragic news of his family’s home has taken an understandable toll on him.
All money raised will go directly to his family for home repairs.
NOTE:
NCAA legislation allows for an institution to assist in fundraisers for a student-athlete (or their family member) in response to extreme circumstances outside of the student-athlete’s control (e.g., natural disasters). As such, this fundraiser is controlled by the University of Connecticut Athletics Department. NCAA rules limit the amount we can help raise, to the replacement cost to rebuild the Sanogo family’s home that was lost in the natural disaster. The fundraising goal has been set accordingly.
In accordance with NCAA rules, once we have verification of the total costs, we will personally provide the donated funds to the Sanogo family. Although we will do our best to limit excess donations – any amounts raised beyond the goal will be given to a non-profit organization.
