Illinois is a cesspool for corruption. At Chicago State University, a state funded university, we know all too well what this feels like. Brittany Bailey and I (Willie Preston), as student leaders have been at the forefront in a battle for justice at CSU and we need your help. We were both elected overwhelmingly by the CSU student body to represent them as their Student Government President and there Board of Trustee Representative respectively.
Brittany and I ran openly on a platform to work with others in the CSU community, such as faculty and the CSU Board of Trustees, to force a change in the leadership starting with the politically connected, powerful, President of CSU, Wayne Watson. As a result, President Watson ordered a series of unjust and illegal actions with the goal of silencing and overruling the desire of the student body. Specifically, Wayne Watson orchestrated a malicious plan to suspend our student elections after opponents of his won elections by landslides, arranged our arrest and detainments on several occasions, suspended then expelled me and there latest attempt to silence dissent involves forcing me into the criminal justice system on trumped up charges, such as criminal trespassing. This stems from my attempt to attend a public meeting, the CSU Board of Trustees meeting, to publicly speak out against their corruption. As our civil attorney’s put it, they are "Threatened by our words."
Help us fight a group of politically connected folks in Illinois who continue to use public dollars to enrich themselves and their friends. Help us fight this group of operators who have shown their contempt for taxpayers and their willingness to use taxpayer dollars to destroy the lives of whoever questions there legitimacy, including students.
Finally, Brittany and I recognize that any donation that is given to fund our legal bills, no matter how small, is a personal sacrifice and please know that we appreciate every cent, honestly words can’t express how much. I’ll close by sharing a question that an attorney asked when I reached out for his help on these matters; for me, it helps explain why a University President was so bold and reckless, and I quote “how much justice can you afford?”
Below I have posted a link of our lawsuit!
