** Tamii's campaign shows that she has raised $8,625.00; this money was used to pay for her surgery in 2021. To date, Tamii has raised: $300.00.**
On April 8, 2021, Tamii successfully had the life-saving TMJ surgery she urgently needed, for her to function, live her life and thrive again.
Tamii's surgery was performed by TMJ specialist, Dr. Mark A. Piper, in St. Petersburg, FL. Dr. Piper performed a: Bilateral Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Microscopic Arthroplasty w/Diskectomy and Placement of Autologous Fat Grafts. There is a 9 to 15-month recovery process. The surgery was successful. However, with the surgery, came side effects. Tamii has Severe “Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome” (CRPS) which affects your "Nervous System," and prevents her from working; if left untreated, CRPS causes muscle spasms and tightening, tremors, decreased ability to move, and joint stiffness.
Unfortunately, there's the insurance game: If the Dr. is out-of-network, insurance won't pay!! Also, Medical coverage says the procedure is ‘Dental’ and Dental coverage, says the procedure is ‘Medical.’ Even worse, Tamii's second insurance carrier dropped her!!
Thus, Tamii's family was left to raise approx. $100,000 for the surgery in 2021, while her condition continued to deteriorate. Tamii chose to fight for herself and raised almost half the money she needed. A very special person, who always makes helping others a priority, did not want Tamii to suffer any longer, graciously covered the remainder of the money she needed to have the surgery!!
Tamii is DEPLETED, FINANCIALLY!!
Tamii still requires necessary treatments to make a full recovery (Tamii has to pay "out-of-pocket" for the continued treatments below):
1. Pain Management Specialist for the Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) treatments, as a result of the TMJ surgery (2-1/2 hr. drive).
2. Post-op Treatments and visits, travel back to St. Petersburg, FL (until all treatments are completed); Tamii was due back in Florida in August of 2022, but financially was unable to go.
3. ENT Specialist to remove the Thornwaldt Cyst from the adenoids that was found during an examination, which prevents her from breathing comfortably (2-1/2 hr. drive).
4. Endocrinologist for Thyroid Treatments for two Nodules found during an ultrasound at the UNM C_ _ _ _r Center (5 hr. drive).
Tamii has unpaid Anesthesia, Lab/Pathology reports, EKG, X-rays, and MRI’s from her surgery in 2021.
Thank you for taking the time to read and share Tamii's story, it is sincerely appreciated. Blessings, Good Health, and Peace be unto you and your families.
