What should have been a week of celebration with Lily graduating Senior Kindergarten, Thomas finishing up Grade 7, and Bella graduating Grade 8, ended tragically on Friday July 1st with the sudden and unexpected death of Rachel’s partner and Lily’s father, Chris.

As if the prospect of raising their 6-year old daughter alone isn’t frightening enough, Chris’ untimely death has also left Rachel in a frightening financial position. Rachel works part time as a teacher at a private facility and relies heavily on Chris for financial support - especially during the summer months while she is off without pay. Chris left behind a family that counted on him financially with no nest egg and no insurance to see them through these darkest days.

Rachel and her children are both shocked and devastated by this sudden loss. To seek out a new job right now when she is saddled with grief and her children need her more than ever before really isn’t an option. Very simply put, Rachel and her children need our help.

While we cannot begin to imagine how Rachel is going to navigate this loss for herself and her children, we hoped that helping with the financial burden might help Rachel to focus on those burdens that, unfortunately, we cannot help to bear.

Rachel is a very humble woman who would not ask for financial help but who is always willing to jump in and help us (and our children) whenever we need her. Right now, she needs us and we’re hoping our little community will come together to help her and her family. Any amount that you’re willing and able to donate would be greatly appreciated.
