Richard McMahon began feeding deer in the 1980's in Medford, Maine. At that time, he fed around 20 pounds of oats daily to a small population of local deer. Times sure have changed, but his passion for feeding the deer has remained. Richard is now located 14 miles from his original location and feeds around 700 pounds of oats to 150-200 deer daily. In addition to providing the deer with local Maine oats, they are also fed apples, feed blocks and acorns collected from trees in the area.
Please help Brownville's Food Pantry for Deer in sustaining our local herd. Visit our Facebook page "Brownville's Food Pantry for Deer" to keep up to date with the herd. We also have a youtube channel. You can search Brownville's Food Pantry for Deer on youtube or you can find the link on the Facebook page. There are six camera angles on youtube, including a pan, tilt, zoom camera and night vision.
The oats, apples and feed blocks are purchased locally, supporting Maine businesses. This year we are projecting to need 35 tons of oats. We will be working with a new oats supplier from Sangerville, Maine, enabling us to purchase oats in bulk and utilize the silo this season. All donations go towards the purchase of oats, food blocks, apples, supplies and maintenance.
Thank you so much for your support and donations throughout the years. We are looking forward to our 14th season starting December 16th. A special thank you to Pro Tech Solutions for all your technical support and our chat moderators on the youtube channel.
