Medical Vet Assistance for Echo

Echo is a two-year-old English Bulldog that was adopted and entered my life in March of this year.  Echo has stolen the hearts of all who have met her.  She enjoys going to work at the radio station, snuggling in everyone’s arms and charming the humans who pass down 39th street in Midtown.

On Wednesday August 18th,  I had to work an event in the evening and felt guilty leaving Echo alone for part of the evening, so I bought her a special treat to occupy her time.  It didn’t work. When I returned home from work, Echo was not at the door to greet me as she always is.  I opened the front door to find my entire living room, including the couch and hallway covered in vomit.

When I found Echo, she was violently vomiting and gasping for air and noticed that Echo was choking on something.  I began giving her the Heimlich and then rushed her to Mission Animal Referral and Emergency Center.  Once we arrived at the hospital, the doctors found the lodged bone in her throat and were able to pull it out but that later became the least of Echo’s health concerns.

Echo had been diagnosed with a damaged esophagus, Aspiration Pneumonia, Pharyngeal Edema, Non-Cardiogenic Pulmonary Edema (ECPE) and closed nasal passage with bloody discharge.  Echo was placed in ICU and inside an oxygen tank for 6 days. 

Echo was able to be released Monday evening due to the improved progress she made, but her recovery is long from over.  Echo has been placed on several different medications that are administered through the day and will be going back in for more lung x-rays and blood tests in 10 days to be sure the infections are 100% gone. 

Echo is my world, my everything, my only child.  My remaining $4,350 in medical bills are not covered.  I don’t have it. Donations of any amount will make a huge difference.
