Mental health awareness
Hi I’m Danny and I’m doing a sky dive for mental health awareness charity
I have suffered with mental health issues for several years now, unfortunately 6 months ago, I went into a deep depression resulting in me trying to take my own life. Thankfully my partner saved my life that day. Also a contribution of my relationship with alcohol which spiralled out of control, causing me to drink excessively daily to delay and hide the thoughts, I was feeling at the time. Resulting in this effecting my relationship with loved ones, and my daily battle with everyday tasks i needed to for fill.
I am now currently 5 months sober, regular attending AA meetings, I have rebuilt my relationships with my loved ones that I have hurt throughout the process and opening up about my feelings and emotions, to help heal myself. I feel due to this I am in the best head space I have been mentally in a long time, I no longer drink alcohol, i use helpful anxiety methods, I am on the correct medication to control my anxiety emotions.
I am wanting to this sky dive, because I still feel there is not enough people in majority men not opening up and talking about what’s really going on inside, and how they are feeling this should be a subject that we choose to ignore within our lives due to the increase of this uncertainty feeling within ourselves.
I got told when these thoughts occur, to think “ suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem “ please can we share awareness of the importance of mental health and talking about our feelings!
I will be doing this sky dive with Blaine Kirk who has had a recent battle with mental health, and we both want to raise awareness for this cause. And to show we have had this battle and come out the other side for the greater good.
