Help Keep Our Family Together
Donation protected
My mother and I have been living in the same house for most of my life, and while we've been through stressful times such as the loss of my grandparents, financial woes, and my mom's cancer diagnosis in 2016, being a close-knit family has kept us strong through it all. However, we have only recently been forced to make a decision to keep our family from splitting up.
(My mother with her cat Neyati, who has been her best friend through chemo, radiation, and gamma knife brain surgery.)
Our landlord, after many years, has decided to make changes to the home we're living in as well as stating a 'no pets' policy. My mother has two cats, one of which has been her emotional support animal throughout her cancer treatments. I have also been working for one year as an animal rescuer and neonatal kitten foster parent. With these new rules in place so suddenly, I am not only forced to quit my rescue work but we are having to find a new place of residence quickly, as we plan to refuse signing an updated lease that will obligate us to get rid of our beloved animals including a pair of young orphan kittens currently in my care who are not even old enough for adoption yet. If we do not move soon, we are concerned about the possibility of eviction due to our decisions.
(Vega, one of 16 orphaned kittens we have cared for this year. She and her sister have been with us since they were one day old.)
I have already found a new job, but without a few months of payments saved up, we are falling short on funds to make the move happen. We can afford rent and utilities in the home we're interested in, but we need some quick assistance just to get us there on such short notice.
Donations to this GoFundMe will benefit:
1) Hiring moving assistance and/or renting a vehicle to transport all of our belongings.
2) Storage space for large furniture items.
3) Replacing appliances our landlord plans to keep (refrigerator, washer/dryer, stove, etc.)
Our family is built on love and support, so the thought of abandoning our pets without even trying is unacceptable to us. We are asking for help so that we don't have to make the decision of whether to put our animals up for adoption or risk being evicted without preparation. In a new home, we want to save more lives, have more happy days, and most importantly, do it as a family.
