Dog Moms, Nurses, Wingmen, one of our own needs our help!! My dear friend, Lt Kathy Alejandro, recently welcomed Mia into her home.

Mia is a 3-month old Jack Russel terrier mix, and the sweetest little bundle of snuggles that Kathy never knew she needed. She brings so much light and joy to Kathy and her husband. Sadly, within a few weeks of the adoption, little Mia began to struggle with serious health complications.

After extensive diagnostic digging, Mia was found to have a congenital liver shunt. This is when a puppy is born with a malformation of the liver, preventing it from filtering her blood properly and creating a build up of toxins in her body. This buildup effects the brain first; sweet Mia is already showing symptoms.
The intervention for Mia's condition is likely surgical. Mia's medical team at Companion Animal Hospital in Fort Walton Beach, FL have referred her to Capital Veterinary Specialists in Tallahassee to see if surgery is required and advisable. Kathy will take her there on May 20.
This ordeal has been time consuming and emotionally taxing for Mia and her family, not to mention extremely financially stressful. Kathy and her husband are stationed 1,000+ miles apart and Kathy has had to handle much of Mia's care on her own, while still serving active duty full-time as an Air Force RN. Discovering Mia's condition alone was expensive; surgery will undoubtedly be more so.
This is where we come in to help.

Dog moms -- we know how much our fur babies mean to us. They bring us such happiness and restore our faith when the world gets us down. They're our comfort, our companions, our very best friends.
Nurses, we know how grueling our job is and how essential it is to have things taken care of at home so we can focus one hundred percent on our patients while on duty.
Wingmen, we look after our own. It's just what we do.
I am requesting donations to help Kathy provide Mia with the very best medical care and to help the Alejandro family through this difficult time. They did a wonderful thing by bringing a rescue puppy into their home, let's help them get her well so she can live a long, happy, adorable life. Proceeds go directly to Mia's medical bills to pay for her treatment and surgery.
Any donation is welcome, as are words of encouragement and prayers for healing. Every little bit helps this little one! Thank you & God Bless
