Nate Huffman was born April 2nd 1975. Graduate of Lakeview High School (93') he then went on to play basketball at Lansing Community College (94'-95') and Central Michigan University (95'-97').
He started his professional basketball career with the Idaho Stampede (CBA). Then moved to Europe to play for Baloncesto Fuenlabrada of Spain ( 98'-99'), and went on to play for Maccabi Tel Aviv where he earned the nick name "Nate The Great". He was named MVP of the IBL and the FIBA SuproLeague as well as best American player in Europe (99'-02').
In 2002 Nate signed with the Toronto Raptors where his basketball career fell short due to an injury. In 2005 after his basketball career he decided to fund a basketball camp for children with a retired basketball player, Constantin Popa. He was awarded the Michigan Jewish Sports Foundation "Book of Life" award in 2010.
Nate married Michelle (Myers) in 2007 and then had a son (Christian ) born in 2009.
In September 2015 he was diagnosed with stage 4 bladder cancer that has spread to his lymph nodes, liver and lungs. The Dr. has given him a 6 months- 2 years life span depending on treatment. As we all know that battling cancer can be an emotionally difficult time as well as financially straining . Let's stand together and show their family how loved and supported they are.
