Running for Marie Curie
Donation protected
Hiya,
Our names are Richard and Mairead Smith. In October, we are running the Bournemouth 10k for the charity Marie Curie.
In 2018, our dad/ grandad John was diagnosed with an incurable cancer in his kidney. We were optimistic, but also understood what incurable meant, and spent the next few years doing as much as possible. But inevitably, things slowly got worse. Grandad was as stubborn as they come, and would have hated going to a hospice or anywhere that wasn’t within his own four walls. And that’s were Marie Curie came in. Once Grandad needed it, they stepped in and sent their incredible nurses to his home. This not only afforded him the dignity he wanted, but also helped Gran out. Marie Curie gave him comfort in his final weeks, and allowed him control over his life.
We aim to raise £200 as this will help send more nurses to the homes of terminally ill people the same way they did for Grandad. So whether it’s a penny or a pound, please donate anything you can to help us reach our goal.
Thank you!
