Hi my name is Genell
I am a 36 year old stay at home mom who was born and raised here in Lee County, Fl. who was recently diagnosed with cancer and a rare Genetic (BRAF) mutation with two beautiful daughters and a wonderful husband who was my high school sweetheart. He is the love of my life we married in 07. I started having some health issues I went to doctor after doctor only to be diagnosed with a rare form of alopecia but it didn’t explain the endless symptoms I was experiencing, The weight loss the swollen lymph nodes, bruising, breathlessness, high blood pressure, pain in ears, throat and neck, vomiting, voice changes, weird rashes, itching, headaches, and most recently loosing consciousness and extreme dizziness (which now we have our girls in daycare another expense we were not expecting) finally in January of 2023, the good in all of this is I finally found a doctor who listened and asked the questions and ran the test I so desperately needed, he had a series of ultrasounds, mri’s, cat scans, and blood work done. When the results came back they were not promising…. so here we go again fighting for our family, 2 biopsies later I finally was given a diagnosis of cancer with a rare BRAF gene mutation. I have another biopsy on lymph nodes on 7/12/23, my husband and I made the decision with my doctors that Moffitt was our best option we will be going 7/19/23 However we have known idea how long we’ll be there or exactly what to expect once we get there we are trying to pull money from anywhere we can and we are desperate between housing while at Moffitt, treatments, daycare, and other medical expenses adding up. We are begging anyone to help us. We don’t qualify for any kind of assistance. However I will not give up now! I’m a fighter!! I will teach my girls compassion and empathy, but also how to fight, I will watch my daughters graduate, I will wipe their tears from their faces from their first heart break, I will be there to watch there father walk down the isle. This is so hard for my husband and myself to ask for help! We are at a complete loss trying to stay a float during this difficult time. We are doing everything in our power to keep our home, and food on the table for our sweet girls. If you are able to help us in anyway we will be forever grateful! Thanks in advance!
