Dear friends, it’s with heavy hearts that, we share the sorrowful news that Matt McKay passed away on August 13th.
Matt was a devoted husband and father, and a beloved friend to all. Being in his presence always made us laugh and smile. Matt had a passion for the Vegas Golden Knights hockey team, the UFC Ultimate Fighting Championship (attending and watching on TV), Harley Davidson Motorcycles, and of course, was a career global strategic sourcing guy through and through, with experience all over the world. Matt greeted his co-workers with a smile which always brightened everyone’s day. He was passionate about sharing his professional knowledge, mentoring his team members, and supporting all those around him in work and life lessons. Matt enjoyed building meaningful relationships with not only co-workers but also the suppliers he worked with -- he truly valued their partnerships and friendships over his 25+ year career.
This video is a compilation of some of our fond memories with Matt.
Matt moved to Las Vegas from New Smyrna Beach Florida, in 2016, and he truly loved getting to know all those in the gaming community and embraced the Las Vegas lifestyle. He was instrumental in building a successful global strategic sourcing team at Aristocrat Gaming over the last 7.5 years. Before that, Matt enjoyed working at Pall Industrial, and made many friends across the world while creating so much value in his endeavors. Along the way, Matt often shared family stories with his co-workers and supplier contacts that showed his love as a husband and father. So many of us are blessed to have shared a drink and enjoyed fellowship with our beloved friend and colleague over the years. He will be eternally missed.
From Shannon, Matt's wife: "Matt was more than my husband; for 32 years, he was my best friend, my rock and my world. His smile would brighten my day. We always had fun together, going to VGK hockey games, a UFC fight, a concert or going for a ride on his Harley. I couldn’t have asked for a better father for our two daughters. We miss him dearly. Rest easy, my love."
In honor of our friend’s memory, we put together this GO FUND ME as a response to the substantial outreach many of us have received about Matt and his family – so many people have asked how to help to support Matt’s widow and two daughters during this difficult time. 100% of the proceeds will go directly to Shannon and the girls. Rest in Peace, Matt.
Matt’s family is thankful for your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. There are no details regarding a memorial service at this time. The family has requested time to grieve privately.
