Charlie Wilkinson and BJ Hogue
Donation protected
VFW Post 2278 in Hot Springs, AR, is reaching out to friends, family, and comrades in arms within the veteran community to assist in providing for a comrade in distress.
Past State Commander, Charlie Wilkinson, and Past Department President, B.J. Hogue, have lost everything in a house fire. Our need is IMMEDIATE & URGENT. They were not harmed but lost two dogs, (B.J.'s "fur-babies,") in the fire. All of their clothing, bedding, furniture, and other belongings were destroyed. They have lost family photos, VFW and Auxiliary memorabilia from decades past, and all family heirlooms which can never be replaced. They literally have only the clothes on their backs. They have been displaced without substantial refuge.
Charlie and BJ have long been selflessly of service to the comrades and sisters of the VFW and Auxiliary both in Arkansas and around the country for too many years to count. Literally decades. They have always been there for others in times of need without a moment of hesitation. They have not asked for this assistance, however, their years of service and sacrifice on behalf of others makes we in the veteran’s community honor bound to try and give back some of what they have freely offered over the years.
The funding we seek will go directly toward clothing, furniture, bedding, toiletries, temporary lodging, and other basic human needs. We cannot replace what was lost but can provide some semblance of normality in their time of devastating loss. Funding will be used first for clothing and necessities, then remaining funding will be used by the post to pay bills incurred for lodging and other support.
Please know how grateful we are for everything they have done for others and how thankful we are for your generosity in providing assistance to such a deserving duo.
